Best Rated Roomba Vacuums
This Roomba is among the best rated vacuums available. It is the most powerful AI obstacle-avoidance system of any vacuum we’ve tested. It also has mopping features with dual rubber brushes that are less likely to tangle than bristle brushes.
It uses random (or bump) navigation rather than VSLAM, which is more time-consuming to clean, but ensures that every room is covered. It has an extended battery life and is efficient on hardwood and carpet flooring.
1. Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is finished in a stylish matte grey that appears like a piece of fabric. This reduces fingerprints. The smart mapping technology utilizes advanced sensors to create an image of your home that helps it clean each space and avoid obstacles. The iRobot App lets you customize your cleaning preferences and provide recommendations based on the seasons, your Intelligent home cleaning, and even your personal preferences. (For example it might suggest that you use it more frequently during the season of allergies). The high-efficiency filter of the robot traps 99 per cent of allergens including mold, dust mites and dog and cat fur. It also has cliff- and edge-sweeping sensor and four brushes (including one side brush, two multi-surface long brushes and two multi-surface long multi-surface brushes), and an edge-to-edge tracker to ensure it stays on its intended route.
In our tests during our testing, the i3+ EVO was capable of cleaning our floors quickly and efficiently. It was able to move easily from carpets to rugs, and back again. It also did not have any issues getting over the wooden or metal trim that separates flooring kinds. However, it did bump into a few things like shoes, bags, and handbags as well as pet toys, but it was able to maneuver around them. It missed some dirt spots on the carpet, but it did take hair from pet hair elsewhere.
The i3+ EVO is a good option for homes with carpeting, but isn’t up to the task when it comes to removing crumbs and larger debris. It’s not able to remove pet hair off carpets and is not the ideal choice for those who want to replace their vacuum cleaner with robotic. It is also not equipped with the superior obstacles avoidance of the top Roombas such as the J7+ or S9+ which could make it more prone to run into pet waste on floors and spread it around.
2. Roomba J7+
This is a great robot vacuum for those with carpet and hard floors. Its best feature is its obstacle detection that cleverly avoids things like furniture legs and even pet waste. It’s also excellent at cleaning hard floors, and removing long hairs stuck in the brush.
The Roomba J7+ is different from other robots in that it is able to adjust its suction strength. This is done via the app. It also has an excellent map editor and a section for favourites. The j7+ also is very quiet, particularly when it comes to higher-end flooring options. It is able to keep up with manual vacuuming.
As is the norm the top models of iRobot’s line tend to have better cleaning performance than lower-end models. In our tests, we observed that the j7+ was able to clean more dirt off carpeted and hard surfaces and also cleaned better in crevices. The only issue was that it did not perform as well in the longer test for human hair, which is common with all robots.
The j7+ is equipped with a self-emptying Clean Base, which is able to automatically transfer dirt from its bin into the dirt bag once it docks. This reduces the need for manual maintenance, and is great for allergy sufferers. The j7+ is also compatible with irobot shop Braava Jet M Series robot mop through its Imprint Link feature. It will automatically resume mopping after the vacuuming process is complete.
3. Roomba i7+
Watching the i7+ clear rooms is a fascinating experience. It follows a pattern that is similar to how a lawn care professional trims the sports field before an event. Sometimes it will return to its dock to empty out its trash bin or recharge its batteries. Self-emptying features are an improvement over the way most robot vacuums work and reduces the need for hands-on maintenance.
It also has a great amount of suction power, grabbing dirt and pet hair with ease. Even on carpets with a high pile, it manages to pick up most debris with just one swipe. It can also identify areas that are prone to traffic and spend longer in those areas. This is especially useful if you have kids and pets who often bring in large debris from the outside.
Smart Mapping is another great feature. It allows the i7+ learn the layout of your house and create a floor map that you can personalize while it vacuums. After four hours of testing, the i7+ could navigate my two-bedroom home efficiently and logically. You can further alter the mapping using the app by creating virtual boundaries and assigning rooms names. This means that you can program the i7+ to sweep around the cat’s litter tray each morning or avoid the living room sofa after everyone has gone to sleep.
The i7+ is also equipped with a side brush and an squeegee with tangle-free spin and a tangle-free spinning squeegee, both of which are to remove debris that might otherwise be left on the ground. It also has an battery that has Recharge and Resume technology, which means it can pick up exactly where it left off during an earlier cleaning session in the event that you let it charge.
4. Roomba 694
The 694 is an excellent entry-level robot for anyone looking to make their home more tidy and without the advanced automation features that more expensive models provide. It can recognize your habits of cleaning and suggest cleaning schedules. It also works with Google Assistant or Alexa voice assistants so you can start a cleaning routine by just giving a command.
The dual multi-surface brushes pick dirt and grime from hard floors and carpet and an edge-sweeping brush is able to tackle corners and edges. The battery can last for 90 minutes before docking back to the Home Base when it runs out.
The top panel features a large Clean/Power button in the middle, along with Home and Spot buttons below and above. The indicator for the battery’s level glows orange while charging and green when the robot has enough power to run. The dustbin is inserted into the robot’s back and can be released by pressing the button.
The Roomba 694 does a great job at maneuvering through floors that are not paved and also sucks up large particles like rice and cereal, but it isn’t as adept at handling tiny particles such as baking soda, and can overflow the dirt compartment when it fills up. It also doesn’t perform better on carpets with low pile, but it still gets a better score than most other robot vacuums in this price range.
It is extremely effective in picking up pet hair. However, some hair strands might get caught on the side brush. Its poor performance on cat litter is also a problem but it still beat the perfect score of most other robots in this class and beat our top value pick (the Roborock S4 Max) by 19 points. The 694 is a bit more than the eufy RoboVac 30C, but it is more robust, requires less maintenance, has a lower recurring cost, charges faster, and performs better on floors with high-piles and bare floors. It comes with a bigger bin and can be used without internet access.
5. Eufy 11s
The eufy11s is among the most affordable robot vacuums available. It’s also a great option for those who want an easy and reliable machine. This model can clean dust, pet hair and other debris from low-pile and hard floors. It also does a good job of moving around furniture and obstacles. Its slim profile is perfect for navigating under low-clearance couches, coffee tables, and other furniture, and it’s also one of the quietest robovacs that we’ve test-driven.
However, that’s not all It’s one of the most minimalist models we’ve seen, and it’s lacking certain features that are available on higher-end models. For instance, it doesn’t work with an app, so you’ll have to manually create the schedule using the remote control. It doesn’t have an alert for the level of battery or a dust bin alert. You’ll need manually empty the bin whenever needed.
This model is extremely robust and easy to maintain, despite its cost. It also has a long maximum battery life, and has good performance on floors that are bare and when maneuvering around obstacles. In our tests it was able to overcome obstacles with low levels, such as electrical cords better than the roomba irobot 694 or Shark Ion robots, but it had issues with carpets with high pile.
While the eufy 11s may be better than the ONSON GOOVI, we suggest you go with a more premium option if you can afford it. The iRobot Roomba 694 has a longer battery life, is simpler to maintain and has a lower recurring costs. It is also more efficient on bare floors and when moving around furniture, and has the largest dust bin.
