Best 3 Wheel Pushchairs
All-terrain pushchair that provides light weight and excellent maneuverability. Its compact one-hand fold means it’s lightweight and freestanding when folded. The padded seat reclines to a near-flat position, and there’s a huge storage bin and canopy. The suitability for newborns is yes, with a separate carrycot (not suitable for overnight sleeping).
Air-filled tyres and good suspension can handle rough terrain. You can also use it to jog. However, you should wait until your baby is at least 6 or 9 months old.
Ickle Bubba Air
This pushchair from Ickle Bubba is a great option for parents looking for a lightweight buggy with enhanced features. It comes as an entire travel system that includes a lie-flat carrycot suitable for infants, a movable forward and rear-facing pushchair seat and a selection of group 0+ car seat, meaning you can have everything you need in one place.
The XL Air is a really impressive vehicle, and it’s easy to see why it’s received so many high marks from its customers. It is extremely light – the wheels and chassis weigh just 6.5kg. It’s extremely easy to put together. I was able to get it up and running in just five minutes. That’s remarkable considering it also includes the fabric for the carrycot to be attached.
It has a nice wide, comfortable seat that was comfortable for Annie (who is 12 months) and the recline lever is simple to use. There’s plenty of space in the basket and I am awestruck by the fact that it comes with a zip-up compartment in the handle bar so you can keep your keys and phone safe!
The only slight downside is that the handlebar is low, which can be an issue for taller parents. But, it’s covered with a luxurious leather-like material that is soft and comfortable and cleans down easily, so it’s still easy to push with children and bags on your hands!
Hauck Pushchair Runner
The Runner is designed for athletic parents who can’t wait to go outside and explore. The large pneumatic wheels are able to be utilized on field and forest paths. The front wheel is lockable and can be rotated to allow for greater versatility. The stroller comes with a 5-point safety harness with a front bar that keeps your child safe on every trip. The parking brake keeps the stroller on its feet as you take a break. The seat can be adjusted to a laying position and the canopy can be opened maximum air circulation on hot days. The handle can be height-adjusted by more than 30cm to accommodate dad or mum’s heights.
Whether you’re going for short jogs or a hike that lasts a while The Runner is ready to accompany you on all your adventures with a reclining, fully-flat seat and suspension air wheels that guarantee a bump-free ride. The front wheel can be locked for greater stability on narrow streets or crowded sidewalks. The stroller can also fold up to fit into car boot spaces and storage areas.
Some parents have found the Runner 2 to be a bit harder to navigate than its predecessor and the locking mechanism is less user-friendly (requiring two buttons on each side of the push bar). The handlebar is a little higher than some competitors which means it might not suit shorter parents but overall, it’s an extremely sturdy and flexible stroller that’s worthy of consideration for families with active kids.
Red Kite Push Me Pace
Red Kite’s Pace is a great product from the cost-effective British brand. They are known for their well-designed, no-fuss products that are essential for parents. It’s the most recent and most expensive version of their bargain light stroller line. It as with the Ickle Bubba Aurora and Yoyo, is car seat adaptable so you can use it from birth (the carrycot folds away).
The new Pace has some amazing design touches such as a rose gold tint to the hood, chassis and stroller trims that make it stand out from its competitors. The grey, tan and cream fabrics in the stroller and the car seat are super elegant and there is the option of adding the handle for the cover and bumper bar as well.
It’s suitable from birth to a max weight of 22kg and the stroller seat can easily be converted from the carrycot into a 2-in-1 reversible mode, parent or world-facing. The stroller seat offers multiple lie-back positions, comfortable padded leg rests and comes with an extendable sun canopy with concealed zip sections, a viewing through flaps and an adjustable sun visor.
When folded, the Pace measures 56 x 43cm x 32cm, which makes it suitable for hand luggage on Easyjet and Ryanair. It’s also easy to fold, thanks to two buttons on either side of the handlebar which just click in and pop up.
Bugaboo Fox 5
Created to be the ultimate all-terrain stroller, Bugaboo’s new Fox 5 promises to do everything. Its unique chassis comes with a shorter wheel distance, making it more manoeuvrable than its predecessor. I tried it out with my two kids – a toddler and an eight-week-old – on rough terrain along woodland paths, grassy trails and even cobblestones.
The large puncture-proof wheels – 22cm or 30cm in size – can handle various terrains. The wheels come with an opening that can be closed or opened to let more air in when required. It’s a bit bigger than some pushchairs, but it doesn’t feel bulky or heavy when pushing over bumpy surfaces.
The seat fabric is machine washable and the frame and faux leather grips are simple to clean. It’s also quieter than some pushchairs, and I felt confident using it in busy city streets. A bonus feature is that it has integrated accessory points, meaning you can put in footmuffs, parasols, changing bags, and even a snack tray. You can also use the hood to block out wind and rain, although it’s not waterproof. The single pram can be fitted with the Comfort 3 wheeled buggies Board (not included) which allows your child more leg room. It took about 20 minutes to put together the bassinet, and a similar amount of time to convert it into the seat.
UPPAbaby Ridge
No matter if you’re enjoying an early morning run under the stars or a moonlit stroll in the crisp air, the UPPAbaby Ridge transforms every moment into a shared experience. This all-terrain stroller was designed to keep you and the child active.
The massive 12″ and 16″ foam-filled tires offer an easy ride, no matter the terrain. The suspension technology is patent-pending, allowing you to glide across trails with little impact on your child’s legs as well as rear. The handbrake with a performance disc allows you to stop quickly even while jogging down the downhill slope.
The Ridge is at home in all city scenes including bustling farmers’ markets to street musicians playing music. The large basket is able to hold all your essentials as well as market purchases, while the massive canopy offers protection from the sun and wind. The canopy on the front can be unzipped to reveal two mesh peekaboos that allow you to watch your baby.
The Ridge’s reversible seat allows you to choose if your child is facing you, or the world ahead. The simple foot brake system makes it intuitive for new parents. A great feature is the reversible handlebar that allows you to adjust it to your height and preference. The Ridge’s fold, unlike many strollers, is stable and self-standing when folded.
iCandy Core
iCandy’s new pushchair has many features that will really impress parents. It features a Multi-Mode wheelbase and a revolutionary LED Visibility Hub Light that is an innovation for the industry. It also comes with an integrated Ride-on Board which helps save on future costs and makes it easier for a tired toddler to accompany your family on outings.
The Core can be bought as a single or as a complete travel system and it works with most popular car seats made by brands such as Cybex, Maxi Cosi and Joie. It has the largest seat unit in the iCandy line, so you can use it to help your baby’s start and beyond. It’s a gorgeously designed pushchair, and it is made of premium knitted fabric. The parent’s adjustable handlebar and child’s removable bumper bar are made of soft leatherette. The folding calf support folds away and is very comfortable for children.
I was awed by how easy it is to fold and collapse – it only takes one hand, even with the seat unit in place. It is also easy to fit into your hallway and boot, making it perfect to travel with. The iCandy Core comes with lots of extra accessories, such as a rucksack with a color match and footmuff/liner.
