The Best Roomba Vacuums
It’s very effective at eliminating dust bunnies, pet hair and clumps of dirt from floors. Its HEPA filters also do a good job at sealing in allergens.
It uses a variation of vSLAM navigation, which means it’s not able to clean up rooms as effectively as a Roomba equipped with a camera. It’s best suited for people who don’t mind cleaning its bin regularly.
1. Roomba from iRobot
The irobot vacuum sale Roomba s9+ is a smart high-performance vacuum that works hard and is able to handle just about any home. It may not come with all the bells, whistles and features of other top robot vacuums, but it does have the basic features you’d expect from a good cleaner. These include an excellent cleaning performance and simple maintenance, along with a convenient remote and an automatic dirt removal that prevents the dust container from overflowing.
It’s stylish with its D-shaped body and bronze disk on top. It’s slightly larger than most robot vacuums that have rounded bodies, yet it’s light enough to be able to move from room to room. The square front design allows it to improve its ability to navigate corners and walls than other robots that have circular bodies.
The s9+ is distinguished from other Roomba models by its advanced mapping technology called vSLAM. This uses a number of sensors to create a map of your house that eliminates missing spots and lengthy time to run. You can also use this app to label specific areas or select a “room-size cleaning” that can balance suction power and run time.
The S9+ is a powerful vacuum cleaner that can get deep into carpets and remove pet hair as well as large particles. It was successful in navigating obstacles and moving through furniture, although it was unable to find a few bits of kosher salt in the corner of our carpeted floors we tested. It can also be controlled using an easy-to-use app or by voice commands via a connected smart speaker. The app lets you set a schedule of daily or weekly cleaning, and adjust power settings for the best results. The s9+’s automatic dirt removal system ensures that you don’t have to empty it, and the app will let you know when it’s full.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The i7+ is the best-of-the-best Roomba robot. It features self-emptying technology to provide weeks of hands-free cleaning, and granular mapping that allows it to clean specific furniture pieces. It’s also compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant so you can control it using your voice.
The process is pretty simple. The i7+ and Clean Base pair up over Wi-Fi, and you’ll be able to run a few exploratory runs without vacuuming to create maps of the Home Cleaning Automation. Once you’ve done that, you can start a cleaning task in the app, or say “Hey Alexa – vacuum the master bedroom” and the i7+ will automatically un-dock, roll over and begin working.
In our tests the i7+ did exceptionally well on both hardwood floors and low-pile carpet. It was very thorough, ensuring that no dusty debris was left behind. It also did a good job of tackling our cereal test, where it was able to suck up several large chunks and bits of milk that were scattered from the bowl.
The i7+ is a great device however, its battery life of only 2 hours is not enough for multi-room use. The i7+ comes with only a small capacity for the dustbin. It does, however, have a separate bin system.
Another drawback is the i7+’s tendency to get caught up in long hair and rug tassels which you will likely have to manually remove every so often. The app lets you keep tabs the status of your i7+, schedule cleaning times, and much more. It has a full bin sensor that alerts you when your bin is about to empty. The app lets you label rooms. This is very helpful when you have pets with long hair or children.

The Roomba 694 robot vacuum is a great option if you don’t need to shell out much money. It’s battery life is excellent and is smart enough to recognize when the cleaning is completed. It can be programmed to run at a specific time and will return to its dock once it’s finished. You can also program it to run even when you’re not home, using the iRobot App or a third party automation system like August, Ecobee or Leviton.
The 694 sports a reflective, bright black top with matte plastic around the edges and the green “Clean” button in the middle. A ring of Home and Spot Clean buttons surrounds the button. On the back, you’ll find the iRobot Logo and indicators for power and Wi-Fi. It is a lightweight and compact vacuum that weighs under seven pounds. It is small enough to be able to fit under the majority of furniture, and is suitable for spot cleaning in difficult-to-access areas.
Like other non-mapping robot vacuums, this one utilizes a combination of sensors and software to find its way around the room. It follows an unidirectional direction until it comes into contact with something, then it changes its direction. During my testing, it took me about 90 minutes to clean a whole room. The 694 then returns to its dock for a recharge and to empty its dirt container.
In my test of comparison the iRobot 694 performed well on bare floors and was unable to handle larger particles like cereal or rice. It also had difficulty taking large chunks of sand from carpets with a low pile. The RoboVac 30C, which is eufy, comes with larger dust bins and performs better on all kinds of floors. It’s also more durable and has lower costs for recurring maintenance and is charged more quickly.
4. iRobot Roomba i3 EVO
The i3 EVO is a fantastic value and includes most of the latest features of Roombas that cost a lot more. It has a self-emptying bin, uses mapping to understand the layout of your home and cleans neatly. It also has strong suction on hard floors and is able to clean multiple surfaces at a time. The i3 EVO doesn’t possess the same anti-obstruction capabilities as the j7+ Combo and the s9+.
Similar to the i1+ like the i1+, i3 EVO is pet-friendly and features dual multi-surface brushes that can adjust and flex to stay in contact with hard floors and carpets without becoming stuck in knots. Its filtration system catches 99.9% of dog and cat allergens in dander. It can be connected to both Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can control it using your voice. And it’s easy to create a schedule for cleaning and view its battery level and cleaning history and get app updates.
The i3 EVO is a battery-powered robot that is quick to charge and has a long-lasting lifespan. It can clean for approximately an hour and a half before running out of battery power. This is a remarkable feat for a robot of this size. You can monitor the remaining battery charge on the bottom of the robot or in the irobot models Home App. It also comes with a handy cleaning time estimate feature that tells you how long the vacuuming process will take.
The smart maps on the i3 EVO are a step up from the i1’s. They let you label rooms, create area dividers and select distinct cleaning settings for different areas. It does not have obstacle avoidance so it can bump into things such as toys, power cords, and shoes.
5. iRobot Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro is a smart robot vacuum that has mopping capabilities. It is a good choice for families with pets since it can be used to clean pet hair and other particles that a vacuum might not be able to catch. This model also comes with a 770ml dustbin onboard, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa, allowing you to control the device via voice commands.
Similar to the iRobot Roomba s9+, the Q5 Pro is able to map out your home and devise a streamlined cleaning plan that ensures that no area is missed. It utilizes a combination of GPS, internal sensors, and LIDAR to identify furniture and other obstacles in its way. The result is an efficient and effective cleaning process that reduces the number of passes needed to cover the entire flooring area.
The Q5 Pro’s capacity to clean up debris from bare floors is another major benefit. It can easily remove large and medium-sized cereals or rice pieces from a smooth surface. It also works well to collect finer materials, such as sand, that can be left on walls or corners.
The only difference between the Q5 Pro, and the more expensive iRobot Roomba i8+, is that the latter feels more durable and has more advanced features, and is being better at sealing in fine allergens. The Q5 Pro is a great alternative for those on a budget. It has a longer running time, and it is compatible with the dock that automatically empty itself. This reduces the necessity for manual maintenance.
